Having returned to the track in great form this time in, Anthony Freedman-trained Minaj is currently sole occupant of the top line of betting for success in the 2014 DC McKay Stakes at $3.20 odds, ahead of Karacatis ($4.20), Essay Raiders ($5) and clear market mover It Is Written ($10).

Can Minaj justify favouritism and win the 2014 DC McKay Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear this weekend?

1st

It Is Written ($10)

Securing an impressive record of eight wins and nine places from 33 competitive starts to date, It Is Written offers punters sensational value for money in betting markets for success in the 2014 DC McKay Stakes at a current quote of $10. While unable to match the last pace of the field when 10th in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) last time out, the Written Tycoon gelding displayed a keen turn of foot to hunt down the leaders and win the Listed Abell Stakes (1200m) just one week earlier on March 14th. Allocated the ideal barrier 2, It Is Written will be partnered by regular jockey Matthew Allen and represents a legitimate chance of success this weekend.

2nd

Conservatorium ($13)

A proven performer on tracks of all conditions all over the country, Conservatorium is likely to receive the run of the race from barrier 3 in the DC McKay Stakes and is a particularly strong chance to claim a place, for which he is currently displaying generous $4 odds. Winner of nine events from 32 starts and placing in a further six, Conservatorium contested a particularly strong and consistent 2013 spring preparation; winning the Group 2 Steere Stakes (1400m) and Group 3 AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m) most notably. While unlucky when blocked for a run and eighth in the Group 3 Irwin Stakes (1100m) in his only appearance so far this season, trainer Gary Kennewell is confident in the chances of the Royal Academy gelding with leading jockey Craig Williams on board this weekend.

3rd

Siwa Lady ($31)

Aiming for her fourth straight victory in the 2014 DC McKay Stakes, Siwa Lady without doubt offers punters the best value for money for success in this weekend’s Group 3 at incredibly long $31 odds, or $8 for a place. Contesting an impressive record of seven wins and eight places from 22 race starts, the Gonski mare has arguably reached career best form in her current season; winning both the 55 Second Handicap (955m) and Health Science Consultants Handicap (1000m) before breaking through for a maiden victory at rated level in the Listed Oakbank Stakes (1100m) last time out. While allocated the slightly wide barrier 10, Siwa Lady’s recent form and class make her hard to look past from a betting point of view.
