Posting six wins and a further 12 minor place finishes through his 36 career starts so far, Agent enters the 2015 DC McKay Stakes off the back of a strong win in the Troa BM84 (1100m) and an impressive third behind Prince Harada and Boomwaa in TheShark.com.au BM90 (1100m) on April 4th.

Confident he is in the right form for black type success, Hawkes believes the Pins gelding’s most recent run will be key in a competitive 2015 DC McKay Stakes tilt but will need some luck amongst the talented field.

“I think it might have been Slipper day and I couldn’t believe that he was 30-1, I just thought he could dead set win and really if you have a look at the way he raced, he raced like that,” Hawkes told Racing Ahead.

“He’s gone to Adelaide and it’s certainly going to be a tougher test for him taking on the better horse.

“He needs thing to go right – 1000 is too sure and 1200 is too far and they don’t run many 1100m races.

“You just need to sit as quiet as a church mouse on him and just peel him to the outside and just give him one crack.

“It’s a bit weird but he’s a seven-year-old gelding who is in career-best form. All of his runs this time in have been fantastic.”

Agent has been ridden by several jockeys this time in, however Todd Pannell has been entrusted with the 2015 DC McKay ride; the first time he has taken to the saddle of the seven-year-old.
